On the 2nd December 2019, Kiwis for kiwi opened the Crombie Lockwood Kiwi Burrow.

Based near the Wairakei Golf Course in Taupo, this brand new custom-built facility will incubate, hatch and raise kiwi from the western region of the North Island. Among many sponsors, Rheem NZ is proud to be one of them!

The work of Kiwis for kiwi plays an integral role in turning around the declining population of the brown Kiwi. With the help of this modern facility, up to 150 additional kiwi eggs per season can be incubated.

And with the arrival of 2020, the first kiwi of the new year and decade has been welcomed at Crombie Lockwood Kiwi Burrow. This wee kiwi, collected as an egg from North Taranaki, had an official hatch time of 11.30am on the 1st January and will be released to its new home in a few weeks time.
